Access Statement - Alma Barn

Introduction

Alma Barn is ideal for those who want a self-catering holiday in the lovely Wiltshire countryside but still within a few minutes walk of a lively village and towns within 10 minutes drive away.

Alma Barn sleeps up to 4 people, plus a baby in a cot and has 2 bedrooms, both open plan style on the first floor. The Barn originates from the 1600s and has been carefully converted into a quirky and high quality self-catering holiday let.  For safety, the barn is not suitable for children under 6 yrs (unless in a cot); see "important note" below.

We look forward to welcoming you. If you have any queries or require
any assistance please email bookings@almabarn.co.uk or telephone Mr Elms 07786 013485.

Pre-Arrival

The barn is situated in Lottage Road and is one of the last houses leading out of the village on the left. For directions using a SAT NAV better not to use the postcode alone, which often directs you to another road, but put in our next door neighbours’ number: 93 Lottage Road, SN8 2EB.

The nearest bus stop is in Lottage Road, approximately 100m from the barn. Buses run to Hungerford in Berkshire and Swindon and Marlborough in Wiltshire and take a minimum of 30 minutes. Buses run approximately every 2 hours. Bus times can vary, please see the bus operator’s website www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables.

We can arrange for a welcome basket of essentials to be delivered in time for your arrival, please let us know your requirements when booking. Alternatively, you can place an order directly with the local shop in the village, Tel. 01672 540255.

The area is served by deliveries from all the major supermarkets if you wish to order online either before or during your stay.

We can also organize a home cooked meal service during your stay. The details are on the main website and you may book directly with the provider or through us, either at the time of booking or at a point prior to your arrival.

There is a gate measuring 120cm wide at the entrance to the pathway. The pathway to the barn is well lit at night by lights operated from within the barn, which would be switched on prior to arrival.

Stairs
There are two staircases leading to each of the bedroom areas. Both have 13 steps and wrought iron banisters on one side of the staircases only.

Bedroom Areas

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The bedrooms are unsuitable for young children for two reasons:
1. They are open plan to the living area and the other bedroom.
2. One single bed is next to the beam which presents a danger to climbing/bouncing children.

There is one bedroom with a kingsize double bed and another with 2 twin beds.
Both bedroom areas are open to the rest of the barn and contained within a wrought iron banister. The banisters are 125cm high.
The height of all beds from the top of the mattress to the floor is 58cm.
Lighting is natural daylight and at night there is a combination of wall uplighters, controlled by the central Lutron system, with table lamps and bedside reading lights controlled separately.

Garden
We have a paved patio area at the entrance to the barn measuring 7.5m by 3.2m and is accessed from the barn by one small step. Wooden table & chairs and a bbq are available on the patio. This looks out on to a paddock with farm animals, usually sheep and sometimes cattle and is fenced off from the property.
